Character Creation Guidelines for the Sonic RP World

If you want to start Role-Playing on Team Acorn then the most important step is to create a Role-Playing character. Before you create your character though there are two things you need to understand which is how many characters you can make and what kind of characters you can make.

 

On either faction you are allowed to make up to 3 Characters at the start Increasing this will require Moderator/Admin Approval. Before you are allowed to use any of your characters in the Role-Play it has to be approved by an Administrator or Moderator. You are allowed 1 canon character per faction.

 

Canon Characters refer to Sonic Characters and are official characters from games, shows, and comics whose sheets are pretty simple to make. There are plenty of resources you can use to find information on any Canon Character and you are allowed to combine multiple continuities of the same character as long as the continuities you use make sense together. If another member has already claimed a Canon Character then you cannot claim that character or any alternate versions or transformations and some Canon Characters cannot be claimed at all. Since this is SatAM based most canon characters will need to be adapted for proper SatAM play. In example they will need to have little to NO powers at all.

 

POWER RULES: The exception to the stated above rules is that you CAN create ONE character PER FACTION with powers. Only one of your 3 characters(Including canon) may have powers. However these powers must be very limited and not at all powerful. Furthermore, these limited powers may only be accessed in RP when the character utilizes a Power Ring item(An item or Accessory melded from the metal of a power ring) for the Freedom Fighters, and an Emerald shard for Robotnik's Legion to power up temporarily. Any powers these characters have are basically held back and only unleashed by using their power ring items or Emerald shards they carry on person. Also, these power rings and emerald shards may only be used once every 24 hours in RP time and when they are used, it is only for a short amount of time that their powers can be accessed.

The general idea with powers is that this RP is meant to be early comic and SatAM based, meaning characters must rely on survival skills, stealth, planning to survive and complete missions successfully. Powers should only be used sparingly and only when absolutely needed. Powers are meant to be a sort of trump card similar to Sonic's Power Ring in the SatAM and early comic series. While originally there was not going to be any powers, I decided to allow VERY limited powers regulated under the rules above.

 

Original Characters are a bit trickier to make because every detail is up to you. Creativity is encouraged with your original characters but there are three things you need to keep in mind when you are creating them. The first is to not make your characters overpowered, the second is to not make them a Mary Sue, and the third is to give them flaws. An example of being too overpowered for the SatAM setting would be if your character had any special supernatural powers of any kind or if they could take on a whole group of characters or SWATbots alone and beat them in a few short posts. An example of a Mary Sue would be if your Original Character was the child, sibling, parent, or relative, either by genetics or adoption, of a Canon Character. This also applies to being married, engaged, or already in a relationship with a Canon Character. An example of flaws would be having them make mistakes and get hurt once in a while. No character on Team Acorn is allowed to be perfect in every way so if you keep these in mind when you are making your character then there will not be any problems.

 

Character Creation:

Now that we have the basic information out of the way we can get to the fun part, Creating your Role-Playing character! The first step when creating a new character is to visit Character Creation(The Freedom Fighters) or (Robotnik's Legion) and press the “Start New Topic” button. In the subject field put the full name of your character and only the full name of your character so they can easily be found when someone searches for them. In the body of the topic you should put all your characters information. If your character has powers, remember that you may only create ONE CHARACTER PER FACTION with powers, and remember to label them "Power Character" in the character sheet. For your convenience we have created a character sheet example to make it easier for you to make your character and organize their information. It is recommended you use it so the approval process can go smoothly and no one gets confused when reading your character’s information.
